Several Anthropology-ICON graduate students will participate in the fifth annual Symposium on Integrative Conservation conference on Friday, January 26th. Emily Horton will discuss her recently completed fieldwork with Brazilian small-scale fisheries focused on understanding how governance strategies can be developed that allow for sustainable fishing and promote well-being. Spencer Kellum is interested in how humans interact with nature and enact social and ecological values in relation to themselves, others, and the surrounding environment. Kristin Morrow will present her research on why people ignore rules prohibiting feeding and interacting with macaque monkeys in an animal reserve in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. In addition, Christina Crespo and Katie Gibson are part of a team presenting on their research on the Athens Greenway.
