Welcome to our new series, Cultural Heritage Traditions! This series will highlight shared cultural traditions through the people who practice and share them. We begin with a three-part feature on basketmaking. 

We'd like to congratulate the Anthropology students who received the 2026 Joshua Laerm Academic Support Awards! These awards, for both undergraduate and graduate students, are competitive awards designed to assist students in their studies and research.

UGA alumnus Sarah Riggs spoke on her journey from anthropology at Franklin College to working in environmental protection at Ceres, a nonprofit environmental advocacy organization. 

Decades ago, two petroglyph boulders were donated to the University of Georgia. Adorned with spiral designs, and other motifs, these boulders are a testament to Georgia's Native American heritage.
