Come celebrate World Anthropology Day and learn about the study of humanity! Learn about all the projects taking place at the Laboratory of Archaeology and how to get involved! The Anthropology Graduate Student Organization (AGSO) will be introducing graduate students’ engagement/community building in the department, and anthropology-related activities done by the department members throughout the year! The Student Association for Archaeological Sciences (SAAS) will be showing off their archaeological experiences in both the field and lab! The Behavioral Ecology and Economic Decisions Lab (BEEDL) will show their work in Madagascar. Madagascar’s geographic isolation has resulted in one of the most unique and remarkable places on earth for its biodiversity, and the only place on the planet where most of its species exist. Learn about it here! The Quaternary Isotope Paleoecology Lab will showcase zooarchaeology & isotopic analysis with animal bones and skulls! See how dendrochronologists use tree-rings to tell us about past climate, natural disasters, environmental change, and date old buildings, paintings, and shipwrecks, and more with the Tree-Rings and Archaeological Wood Analysis at Georgia (TRAWG) Laboratory! The Historic Preservation program will be there to talk cultural resources and the ways preservationists and archaeologists work together. Come learn about the HP certificate, minor, and Double Dawg programs. The UAT Sandy Creek Archaeology Field School will show off their projects at Sandy Creek! The Center for Applied Isotope Studies will bring outreach comic books and info about opportunities for undergrads and grad students! The Bali & Beyond program will be there to offer a Study Away opportunity in Bali, Indonesia! More details to come!
