Dominique Valentine

UGA Arch

I am a 1st year PhD student in the Integrative Conservation (ICON) and Anthropology program. My research interests are in Environmental Justice and Wildlife Ecology. I intend to study how human communities' continual growth and expansion impact the surrounding wildlife population and ecosystems. I am inspired to integrate social science into my research. I am interested in researching how different factors, such as environmental injustices, impact ecological processes. I want to specifically explore questions that require me to examine underlying social factors like economic disparities that may affect the ecosystem in unforeseen ways. I want to work in an urban environment, exploring cities and how social issues exacerbate ecological issues.

Research Interests:
  • socio-ecological systems
  • human-wildlife interactions and conservation
Education:
