Nemer E. Narchi (PhD, The University of Georgia, 2011) and Christine M. Beitl (PhD, The University of Georgia, 2012), along with 32 collaborators, analyze the interactions between human beings and the coastal-marine environment through 15 different chapters that highlight the important presence of multivocality in maritime policy and coastal rights to foster the inclusion of the knowledge, desires, and visions of local actors in development projects and research agendas. Using case studies from six Latin American countries, this book, directed towards a Spanish-speaking audience, presents a novel and innovative approach to the study of coastal societies and development through articles written by scholars from multiple disciplines including, Dr. Beitl and Dr. Narchi.
