Katharine Napora, PhD Candidate, won 3rd place in UGA Libraries’ 2019 Capturing Science Contest with her Learning Activity-Tree Rings and Archaeology. The Capturing Science Contest challenges students to explain a STEM concept utilizing a medium of their choice. Contest judge, Patricia Green said, “Katharine Napora does an excellent job of introducing students of all ages to archaeology through dendrochronology, the study of tree rings...In these lesson plans, Napora uses her own area of specialization to be age-inclusive and to encourage us to think more deeply about how the everyday environment around us changes from year to year.” Congratulations Katharine!
