Wounaan Cultural Team's Book Launch

 

On Tuesday, November 16 at 2pm The Wounaan Cultural Team is launching its new trilingual illustrated storybook, Wounaan döhigaau nemchaain hoo wënʌʌrrajim / Durante su aventura, los niños wounaan vieron muchas aves / The Adventures of Wounaan Children and Many Birds. The presentation is part of the Establishing Sustainable Community-Based Research Partnerships series and will be spoken (mostly!) in Spanish (with text translation for the small portion in English).

Dr. Attila Gyucha's book, "Bikeri: Two Copper Age Villages on the Great Hungarian Plain" was recently published

Congratulations to Assistant Professor, Dr. Attila Gyucha on the publication of his book, Bikeri: Two Copper Age Villages on the Great Hungarian Plain. In this book, Dr. Gyucha along with University of Illinois at Chicago's Dr. William A. Parkinson and Ohio State University's Dr. Richard W. Yerkes present the results of multi-disciplinary research conducted at Early Copper Age villages on the Great Hungarian Plain from 2000-2007.

UGA Research article, "Gorillas can tell human voices apart," highlights Dr. Roberta Salmi's research methods and findings. In the article, Dr. Salmi discusses gorillas' ability to recognize familiar human voices. The article also discusses the Animal Cognition article, "Who is there? Captive western gorillas distinguish human voices based on familiarity and nature of previous interactions," by Dr. Salmi, Dr.

UGA Anthropology alumni, Dr. Brandon Ritchison (PhD ‘19), current postdoc, Dr. Carey Garland (PhD ‘19), and Professor & Lab of Archaeology Director, Dr. Victor Thompson, along with Dr. Bryan Tucker from New South Associates, recently had their article, "A preliminary consideration of craft production and settlement expansion on Ossabaw Island, Georgia, USA" published in The Journal of Island and Coastal Archaeology on Taylor and Francis Online.
